A Skilled Attorney to Help You Through the Five Steps of Probate

Are you the executor, administrator or personal representative of a friend or family member's estate? You will be responsible for certain duties throughout the probate and estate administration process. Attorney Slicker can assist you with the following five steps of the probate process:

  • Filing the probate petition and gathering records. You will be responsible for filing a formally written petition, paying a filing fee and gathering estate records.
  • Publishing a notice to creditors. If the decedent has debts, you will be responsible for publishing a notice to creditors.
  • Performing an inventory and appraisal of assets. You may need to bring in valuation and accounting experts to carry out a complete inventory, appraisal and valuation of real and personal property.
  • Paying estate debts, claims and taxes. If the estate owes debt or estate taxes, the probate will not be concluded until these are paid.
  • Distributing the assets and closing the estate. Once the legal requirements have been satisfied, money will come out of the estate for claims, taxes, attorneys fees, personal representative compensation and other expenses. After these expenses are met, the beneficiaries will receive their property and assets.

Florida Fee Structure

Both the personal representative fee and the attorney fee are set by statue in Florida depending on the size of the estate.

Estate Litigation

In addition to guiding clients through the probate process, Mr. Slicker handles probate litigation. The need for litigation can arise from will contests, trust disputes and other disagreements during probate and estate administration.
